Neuromodulators, such as Xeomin®/Dysport®/Botox®, are protein variations of botulinum toxin injected beneath the skin to temporarily relax the muscles that cause wrinkles. As a result, you will have a softening of facial expressions and wrinkles. Traditionally neurotoxins have been used to treat established wrinkles, however, they are being used more frequently to prevent wrinkles from ever forming.
What should I expect?
Any cosmetic injection procedure can occasionally show mild bruises that are quick to resolve and easy to cover with makeup. Patients express that these injections cause very little pain and are well-tolerated. Neuromodulator injections will usually start to show an effect after 48 hours. Maximum benefit will appear after 2 weeks, thus a follow-up meeting will be arranged with you to perform any necessary touch-up injections to achieve maximum cosmetic correction.
Common areas to treat: frown lines, forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, “smoker’s lines”, chin dimpling, massesters (TMJ)
