Guelph Skin Clinic October Newsletter

What is Collagen?
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body. It is found in the bones, muscles, tendons and skin. It makes up about 70-80% of our skin. As we age, our collagen production decreases and this is what causes wrinkles and ‘thinning skin.
Why is Collagen Important?
Collagen helps support the skin to keep it looking youthful. As we age, collagen and elastin production decreases, leading to skin laxity. This, along with repetitive movement, contributes to fine lines and wrinkles.

Things that cause collagen production to decrease faster:
- Smoking
- Diet
- Sleep
- UV rays
- Pollutants
How Can I Stimulate Collagen?
- Radio-Frequency Microneedling (Morpheus8/Fractora)
- Radiesse Injections
- Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
- Chemical Skin Peels
- Medical Grade Skin Care
